ESOL Skills for Life

The ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Skills for Life programme is for adults aged 19 years and over who wish to make their home in this country – for example, settled immigrant communities, refugees, asylum seekers and migrant workers. Improve your English language skills and your prospects in the heart of Buckinghamsire. ESOL classes are run at all levels from  Entry 1, Entry 2, Entry 3, Level 1 and Level 2. K.M Bridges Academy can offer you:

No formal qualifications are required. You will be assessed on entry to ensure you are placed on the correct level course for you. However, if you have studied ESOL before, please bring along any previous ESOL certificates you may have.

This course requires a high level of commitment inside and outside the classroom. You will be expected to attend all classes and take a compulsory exam. You must be in good health as the course is very intensive and students must commit and fully participate. You must meet at least one of the following criteria to be eligible for this course:

  • Those with settled status in the UK, i.e. indefinite leave to enter or remain or Right of Abode;

  • Those with recognised refugee status;

  • Those with humanitarian protection/discretionary or exceptional leave to remain (Asylum Seekers – minimum residence in the UK for six months with application for residency in process);

Please bring proof of nationality/status such as your passport/Home Office papers/ID card with you on enrolment days. If you are in receipt of any benefits please bring evidence of this which must be dated within the last six months to be eligible for the subsidised fee. Please see the Additional Information tab below to check if you are entitled to a course funded by the Adult Education Budget.

Entry Level 1, 2, 3, Level 1 and Level 2 Speaking & Listening: Learners will be given tuition in speaking and listening skills, grammar and vocabulary based on the ESOL Skills for Life Core Curriculum. Learners will take the Trinity ESOL Skills for Life Speaking and Listening examination.

Entry Level 1, 2, 3, Level 1 and Level 2 Reading: This course is aimed at improving students` reading skills, grammar and vocabulary based on the ESOL Skills for Life Core Curriculum. 

Entry Level 1, 2, 3, Level 1 and Level 2 Writing: This course is aimed at improving students` writing skills, grammar and vocabulary based on the ESOL Skills for Life Core Curriculum.

You will have one to one tutorial time with your teacher as part of our personalised learning approach whereby you will be set SMART targets, receive individual support and constructive feedback which will take your strengths and weaknesses into account.

ESOL Speaking & Listening, Reading and Writing courses (10 weeks, 2 hours per week) -£540 + £30 course book, if applicable . 

The tuition fee, once paid, is non-refundable and non-transferable. This means that if you decide to leave your course for whatever reason, you will not receive a refund.
